Sweeney's Bothy was created and built by The Bothy Project, which provides week long residencies for artists for six months of the year on the Isle of Eigg and in the Cairngorm National Park at Inshriach.

Sweeney's Bothy's unique eco design here on the Isle of Eigg was developed by artist Bobby Niven, architect Iain Macleod with artist and poet Alec Finlay

The Bothy Project is a network of small-scale, off-grid art residency spaces in distinct and diverse locations around Scotland. Our objective is to create platforms for artists to journey and explore the peculiarities of Scotland’s history, mythology, landscape and people. These platforms will be established through the creation of purpose built structures made in collaboration with visual artists, musicians and writers to create a network of bespoke small-scale dwellings.
